As President of the Greater Pittsburgh Hotel Association, I would like to welcome you to our website, and take this opportunity to introduce you to our Association. I hope that you take full advantage of the features that we offer on our site.
The Association is the industry’s voice in the Pittsburgh region, and has traditionally represented Pittsburgh’s hotels in many types of situations, ranging from tourism to legislation. Today, the Greater Pittsburgh Hotel Association boasts more than 90 members, sixty hotels and growing. The membership includes nationally recognized hotels, as well as small boutique hotels, and major hospitality suppliers with local and national exposure.
A twenty-one (21) member Board of Directors with four (4) officers elected by the membership and the board represents our member’s interests. The board consists of a broad cross-section of the industry. When necessary, our Association will recommend action and take positions on issues of concern.
The associations voice improved the federal government hotel room rate per-diem, successfully lobbied the county in elimination of the lifeguard requirement, as well as leveraged to reduce the Pittsburgh International Airport corridor transponder rates, and continues to champion topics outlined to lower beverage taxes and spending initiatives for Western Pennsylvania.
The Greater Pittsburgh Hotel Association is a driving force in helping our industry to succeed. It provides business meetings specifically targeting our business needs. It helps to promote the industry through hotel and associate member recognition. It assimilates and distributes information and helps with education and training. All of these are keys to improving our industry’s performance.
In addition, the Greater Pittsburgh Hotel Association is committed to involving their members in numerous community initiatives and charitable endeavors, which have been news worthy nationally. The membership invites you to be part of the new Pittsburgh, and looks forward to improving our industry with its exciting association.
